Traditional Tapa with a tropical pineapple twist. Tapa cloth dates back to as early as the sixth century B.C and had its origins throughout the Pacific Islands. Made by hand, the bark was beaten by hand over hardwood into sheets until it was paper thin, then designs were applied using paints and vegetable dyes of light brown, red, and black. With each carve came a different meaning. It was also known to be displayed on special occasions, such as birthdays and weddings.
Inspired by Tapa, our Pineapple Ice print is an ode to the incredible meaning and significance behind every design.
